Police Holiday Safety Tips The Christmas and New Year holidays are rapidly approaching, and the Cloverdale Police Department would like to provide the community with important safety tips and general information.
Traffic Safety will be essential during this time of year as pedestrian and vehicular traffic increase due to holiday travelers. In addition to the increase in traffic, inclement weather is likely to continue, resulting in city streets being slippery with limited visibility due to fog and rain. Please take extra care to watch for pedestrians as you drive about Cloverdale and remember that pedestrians do have the legal right of way. This is especially important at the intersections of Cloverdale Blvd. at Healdsburg Avenue and Cloverdale Blvd. at North Street, as children often use these crosswalks during morning hours to get to school. The Cloverdale Police Department will do its best to enforce this, and all other traffic laws but will also be counting on the public to be mindful of the risks to drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
During this time of year, the department typically sees an increase in thefts. We ask that you secure your vehicles when unattended and remove any personal belongings of value, such as purses, wallets, and electronic devices. Additionally, we ask that you secure your residences and property by locking doors and windows before you leave and during the nighttime hours. If you plan to celebrate the holidays with alcohol, please take preventative measures before driving and designate a sober driver for your safety and the safety of others sharing the road.
On behalf of the City and Police department staff, we wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday season!

Parks UpdateCrews worked to install a new manufactured restroom facility at City Plaza this week. A large crane was used to hoist the prefabricated restroom into its final resting place on the City Plaza. The facility features two unisex restrooms, two drinking fountains and bottle filler, a hand sink, and a doggie water bowl for our four-legged friends. The City's contractor will be back after the first of the year to repour the concrete apron around the facility, then its good to go!

Economic Development Board, Sonoma County Library Seek Input on Local Broadband Coverage Map The Sonoma County Economic Development Board and Sonoma County Library invite Sonoma County residents to help improve the accuracy of internet service data provided by the Federal Communications Commission. On November 18, the FCC released a pre-production draft of its new National Broadband Map. The map displays specific address information about broadband services available throughout the country – a significant step forward from the census block-level data previously collected. The release of the draft map kicks off a public input process that will play a critical role in improving the accuracy of the map. An accurate map is an important resource for targeting funding and other efforts to bring broadband to unserved and underserved communities. “Broadband’s role in how we do business, learn, and access health care has only increased over the last decade,” said James Gore, Chair of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. “It is critically important to assess where the greatest needs are in Sonoma County to help ensure no one is left out. The FCC map is another step toward equitable broadband.” The public may view the maps at broadbandmap.fcc.gov and search for their individual address to see information about the fixed and mobile services that internet providers state is available at that location. If the fixed internet services shown are not accurate, residents, with a few simple clicks, may file a challenge with the FCC directly through the map interface and correct the information. Map users will also be able to correct information about their location and add their location to the map if it is missing. In addition, the draft map will allow users to view the mobile wireless coverage reported by cellular service providers. A video tutorial and more information on how to submit challenges is available at fcc.gov/BroadbandData/consumers. For more information about the BDC, please visit the Broadband Data Collection website at fcc.gov/BroadbandData.
