Parks UpdateSeveral projects were accomplished this work week throughout Parks and L&L Districts. This first project consisted of replacing malfunctioning lights at the Second Street City Park baseball field. The lights are utilized by organized sports during games that procced late into the evening. A total of seven light fixtures were repaired. In order to complete this project, it was necessary for the department to rent a 60ft boom-lift to reach the light towers and make necessary repairs. Weed abatement was performed at the L&L District The Cottages. Two blocks of landscaping was completed from Douglas Fir to Pepperwood Drive. We initiated the project by string weed eating the tall grasses and invasive species of weeds, and work was finished with the application of organic herbicides, the goal to suppress weeds. A significant irrigation leak was also repaired while working in the District. Parks staff allocated two working days to maintaining our Parks playground structures. The City has four playground structures located on Second Street City Park, Vintage Meadows Park, Furber Park and Clark Park. A general inspection was performed of each of the structures to ensure the equipment is in safe condition for the kids to enjoy. This week’s focus was to address the fall protection standards by adding 60yds of playground certified wood chips. Application was made around all structures, but mainly slides, swings, climbing structures and benches. Lastly, several vegetation service requests were completed this work week including vegetation trimming along Foothill Drive at the entrance of Furber Park . Parks staff would like to thank the community for all of the positive feedback we received while working around playground structures.
