City Crews Respond to Water Leak on Clover Springs DriveOn Wednesday, July 6th, City staff responded to a water leak on an 8” high pressure main located in the intersection of Clover Springs Drive and Red Mountain Road. The water leak was on a large main valve on the 8” high pressure water main serving the Clover Springs (Del Webb) project.
City crews excavated a portion of the roadway to enable access and repair of the main valve. In order to repair the leak, water service to the Clover Springs club house and 10 homes located on Red Mountain Road (north of Clover Springs Blvd.) was temporarily shut off. Clover Springs Road between Foothill Blvd and Red Mountain was also temporarily closed to through traffic while the repair work was underway to ensure safe working area for City staff.
City Crews (Darren Hernandez, Trevor Andersen, Curtis Waller, and Jay Robinson) completed the water leak repair at approximately 4:30 pm Wednesday afternoon. The water leak was determined to be due to a pin hole caused by corrosion on a heavy ductile iron coupler adjacent to the valve on the 8” high pressure water main. City crews replaced a short section of 8” water line and installed two new iron couplers. Following the repair work, the watermain was flushed in accordance with State regulations. Parks staff (Hector and Miguel) were able to capture much of the flush water in the City's water buggy where they reused for landscaping and turf irrigation at nearby Furber Park (see picture below).

Parks UpdateParks staff focused the majority of the week on irrigation troubleshooting and repairs, woodchip spreading, supplemental irrigation and mowing of all sports fields. A high priority for Parks staff is to address all irrigation leaks as soon as possible to utilize our water wisely. During routine irrigation leak inspections, parks staff found a large leak beneath the backflow device under 4” of concrete located at the L&L District Jefferson Springs. A few scheduled maintenance activities were put on hold to be able to make the necessary plumbing repairs as quickly as possible. Leak repairs also continued at the Second Street City Park, and L&L District The Cottages. Several sprinklers were repaired and replaced. 10 yards of woodchips were broadcast in the L&L Cottages District Between Hot springs Road and Pepperwood road. The goal is to add a nice layer of wood chips trough the 6 blocks of landscaping along Foothill Blvd. The great advantage to using woodchips is that they can hold moisture in the ground. A nice layer of woodchips around the base of trees and shrubs will prevent vital water from evaporating is specially during the 3rd year in the drought. It also suppresses unwanted weeds and add nutrients and structure to the soil as the mulch starts decomposing. Parks staff worked closely with other departments to performed a water main repair in the intersection of Clover Springs Road and Red Mountain Road. The main task for Parks staff was to capture all the flush water in the water buggy to supplement the irrigation system at the Furber Park field, the water was spread near the Baseball field dimond were we currently host sporting activities. Several Arborist request were addressed as well as new development project request.

Resilient Cloverdale - Social Cohesion Follow Up SurveyResilient Cloverdale, a cross-sector initiative committed to advancing the resilience of Cloverdale and the surrounding community, is working with a research team from San Francisco State University to assess the role that social cohesion has played in the Cloverdale community’s responses to recent crises. Social cohesion refers to the strengths of relationships, including feelings of connectedness, reliability, and trust, among community members.
This project includes a confidential survey designed to help us to learn more about how social ties, community, and neighbors can assist during future crises that affect Cloverdale. As a follow-up to the Social Cohesion Survey conducted in spring 2021, information from this survey will help us assess whether gaps in social cohesion identified from the first survey have persisted, improved, or gotten worse. The findings will be used to help identify community-led strategies to improve resilience for all members of the Cloverdale community. Make sure your input is part of this process. Take 15-20 minutes to complete the Resilient Cloverdale Social Cohesion Follow-up Survey, click or copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://tinyurl.com/2msxukyn ** Anuncio del boletín **
