Annual Sewer Collection System Maintenance In ProgressThe City has retained a contractor to perform annual maintenance on the City’s Sanitary Sewer Collection System. The maintenance process includes cleaning, repairing and slip lining aging sewer lines. You may see maintenance trucks in the following areas that will be covered in this year's maintenance cycle: - Shahan /Grace Ct.
- Jefferson/Haehl (both North and South from manhole)
- Hardister/Antonio
- East 3rd/Main
- Lake/Live Oak (both South and East from manhole)
Slip LiningThe slip lining process eliminates digging up the street to replace a section or sections of sewer pipe. Slip Lining process is completed by winching or pushing a new fabric pipe through the existing pipe to ensure the pipe does not leak. A long fabric tube which is flexible is saturated with a self hardening epoxy and is then pulled into the cast iron sewer pipe. Where pipe connections exist the lining is either pre-cut or cut in place so that it does not cover up pipe connections from individual sewer laterals. Slip lining is the least expensive and least disruptive way of restoring sewer pipes. It can be installed from one access point and usually does not require excavation at a second access point.

Parks UpdateParks staff continue to roll out projects throughout City parks, L&L Districts and the local Cemetery. Porterfield Creek Open Space Preserve received the 3rd mowing event of the season. Parks staff began work at 6:00am to get ahead of the heat and avoid any unnecessary incidents. 10 acres were mowed near the entrance and several small trees were removed that were encroaching on hiking trails. In the L&L District The Cottages, 12 yards of mulch were spread between Hots Springs and Pepperwood. Adding a layer of mulch can limit the amount of weeds that spring up in the landscape, and assist with moisture retention, especially during hot weather. Another benefit is preventing soil nutrients from being washed away by the rain or irrigation. Lastly, it encourages earthworms to occupy the landscape which helps improve soil structure and nutrient cycling. Parks staff assisted with the kick-off of the Cloverdale Ponytail League. All baseball fields were prepped including mowing of the turf to designated length and adjustment of irrigation systems. The Snack Shack was cleaned. Parks staff also assisted with installing a new Ponytail league League Plan sign at City Park. Al Delsid with American Legion Post 293 organized another volunteer day to work on restoring and repairing grave sites at our local Cloverdale Cemetery. The Cloverdale Fire Department volunteered to undertake this project. Several trees were also limbed up to allow the large fire trucks to enter the park in case of an emergency. A big thank you to Al Delsid and the Cloverdale Fire District for all the work you do help our community and the volunteer work at the Cloverdale Cemetery.

Vegetation Management at City's Wastewater Treatment PlantCity staff operators perform routine maintenance on the wastewater storage (infiltration) ponds at the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant on a regular (weekly) basis. During the dry months, it is necessary to periodically conduct management vegetation (mowing) of the banks in the dry ponds to maintain the integrity of the pond walls and to reduce the threat of fires in the ponds during the fire season. Overall, the ponds cover 35 acres of land which takes approximately one week to complete mowing of the entire area.

Resilient Cloverdale - Social Cohesion Follow Up SurveyResilient Cloverdale, a cross-sector initiative committed to advancing the resilience of Cloverdale and the surrounding community, is working with a research team from San Francisco State University to assess the role that social cohesion has played in the Cloverdale community’s responses to recent crises. Social cohesion refers to the strengths of relationships, including feelings of connectedness, reliability, and trust, among community members.
This project includes a confidential survey designed to help us to learn more about how social ties, community, and neighbors can assist during future crises that affect Cloverdale. As a follow-up to the Social Cohesion Survey conducted in spring 2021, information from this survey will help us assess whether gaps in social cohesion identified from the first survey have persisted, improved, or gotten worse. The findings will be used to help identify community-led strategies to improve resilience for all members of the Cloverdale community. Make sure your input is part of this process. Take 15-20 minutes to complete the Resilient Cloverdale Social Cohesion Follow-up Survey, click or copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://tinyurl.com/2msxukyn ** Anuncio del boletín **
