Parks UpdateParks staff continues to address vegetation management projects throughout City Parks and Open Spaces. Two days of work were allocated to vegetation management at the Sonoma County Cloverdale River Park. Several open space areas were mowed as well as the three mile long Riverpark Trail. An approximately 12ft apron on each side of the trail were mowed. to allow for a clear path for our daily park users and to keep all invasive plant vegetation from encroaching on the trail. A third mowing event was also performed around BBQ grills and picnic tables. This effort was intended to remove fire fuels and reduce curb future fire risks. Second Street City Park was scheduled for a general clean-up this week. Although maintenance activities are performed daily, a deeper more detailed Spring cleaning was performed in preparation for the Father’s Day Celebration taking place on Sunday, June 19th . All picnic tables were washed down as well as the sinks. The entire park was mowed, pruned and several hours of raking were performed.
Scheduled electrical work was also completed at the Girls Scout Building located in the Second Street Park. Several outdated repairs were made to the electrical system as well as the replacement of old light fixtures with new and improved LED low voltage fixtures. All City Parks were mowed to a designated height as well as continuing the rollout of several projects coming in the near future, such as Restrooms in our Downtown Plaza, Pickleball Courts at Furber Park and new basketball Courts at the Second Street City Park.
