City Council Commemorates JuneteenthAt their meeting on June 8th, the Cloverdale City Council commemorated Juneteenth with a proclamation. The Juneteenth Proclamation encourages all residents of the City of Cloverdale to explore African American culture history, and pride. On hand to receive the proclamation was Arthur B. Chaney, Chapter President of 100 Black Men of Sonoma County, Inc.
Juneteenth is the "longest-running African-American holiday," and it recognizes June 19, 1865, as the date that news of slavery's end reached slaves in Texas and other states in the southwest. Juneteenth was recognized as a federal holiday on June 17, 2021, when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law making Juneteenth the eleventh American federal holiday and the first to obtain legal observance as a federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was designated in 1983

Resilient Cloverdale - Social Cohesion Follow Up SurveyResilient Cloverdale, a cross-sector initiative committed to advancing the resilience of Cloverdale and the surrounding community, is working with a research team from San Francisco State University to assess the role that social cohesion has played in the Cloverdale community’s responses to recent crises. Social cohesion refers to the strengths of relationships, including feelings of connectedness, reliability, and trust, among community members.
This project includes a confidential survey designed to help us to learn more about how social ties, community, and neighbors can assist during future crises that affect Cloverdale. As a follow-up to the Social Cohesion Survey conducted in spring 2021, information from this survey will help us assess whether gaps in social cohesion identified from the first survey have persisted, improved, or gotten worse. The findings will be used to help identify community-led strategies to improve resilience for all members of the Cloverdale community. Make sure your input is part of this process. Take 15-20 minutes to complete the Resilient Cloverdale Social Cohesion Follow-up Survey, click or copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://tinyurl.com/2msxukyn ** Anuncio del boletín **

New Guide for Maintaining Low Water-Use LandscapingKeeping up with yard work can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be. Knowing what to do, how to do it and when to do it can make landscape maintenance much easier and less time consuming. The Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership (SMSWP), in collaboration with Ann Baker Landscape Architecture, has published a guide for homeowners on how to maintain a low water-use landscape. “Water Smart Gardens Maintenance Manual” is an easy-to-use, step-by-step instruction manual on how to care for and maintain the plants, drip irrigation systems, and green features like the ones offered in the Water Smart Landscape Design Templates, which are free, downloadable landscape plans available on the SMSWP website. The Maintenance Manual will set home gardeners up for success with a foundation of knowledge and principles that reduce resources and upkeep. It includes a calendar showing when to do tasks in the garden – when to weed and when to prune for plant health for example. Instructions on how to perform tasks like pruning and irrigation system maintenance are featured as well as tips for preparing for fire season.
