SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program

In response to COVID-19, small business owners, including agricultural businesses, and nonprofit organizations can apply for the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) through the Small Business Administration (SBA). Small business owners and qualified agricultural businesses are currently eligible to apply for a low-interest loan. The purpose of the program is to help businesses meet financial obligations and operating expenses that could have been met had the disaster not occurred. EIDL proceeds can be used to cover a wide array of working capital needs and normal operating expenses, such as continuation of health care benefits, rent, utilities, and fixed debt payments. Its a Dry Year. Save Water with Us.

As a region we are experiencing a second consecutive dry year, and rainfall and water storage are well below average for this time of year. The City of Cloverdale is encouraging all of our drinking water customers to continue to save water (see tips below).

Our region just experienced the third driest water year (October 2019 - September 2020) on record over the last 127 years. Changes to our everyday habits to eliminate water waste and preserve water supply are needed by all of our customers. Every drop saved helps maintain water flows in the Russian River and extend reservoir storage levels should the current dry period continue.

To help raise awareness of water supply conditions, Sonoma Water unveiled a new water supply graphic (below) that provides a snapshot of the rainfall and water storage for our two main reservoirs, Lake Sonoma and Lake Mendocino.

Do Your Part to Eliminate Water Waste!

Water is a shared community resource that is critical to conserve and eliminate waste. These are a few of the water-wasting activities that are prohibited year-round in cities in Sonoma and Marin county:

  • Washing sidewalks, walkways, driveways or other hard surfaced areas with a hose. Use a broom instead.
  • Irrigation runoff to streets and storm drains from overwatering or sprinkler-overspray of landscapes.
  • Using a hose without a self-closing shutoff nozzle to wash cars, boats, or trailers.
  • Irrigating outdoors during and within 48 hours following measurable rainfall.
  • Using potable water in decorative water features that do not recirculate the water.

For additional water saving tips and resources, please visit the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership website.

Gardening Workshops by One Water, One World

The City is a partner with One Water, One World (OWOW) through association with the Russian River Watershed Association. The purpose of the OWOW program is to raise awareness of the connection between pesticide use and water quality and provide information to consumers at the point-of-purchase about integrated pest management (IPM) and less-toxic alternatives that are not causing water quality problems.  OWOW has announced two free gardening webinars. Both webinars will focus on gardening techniques that reduce our reliance on pesticides.
