Planning & Community Development
Responsibilities
The Planning & Community Development Department performs Long-Range and Current Planning activities as well as Code Enforcement. The Department assists the City Council with the development and implementation of long-term goals and policies of the General Plan that guide the physical, economic, and social development of the City. The Department implements ordinances consistent with those development policies in an effort to:
- Ensure orderly and balanced growth;
- Preserve the quality of life of our residents;
- Promote a strong economic base; and
- Protect the City's resources and natural environment.
Planning Efforts Underway
The City is currently underway with several planning efforts that will help shape the future of Cloverdale.
These efforts include:
1. Updating the General Plan Safety Element
2. Updating the General Plan Housing Element- Take Housing Survey Here!
3. Examining the Downtown and Transit Oriented Development Zoning Districts for possible amendments
4. Housing Law Presentation 7/15/21
Current Planning
The Department also assists the public, provides information on land use, zoning and site development standards and processes applications for land use permits and subdivisions. The Department reviews a variety of land use applications for new development, including:
- Subdivisions
- Use Permits
- Design Review
- Variances
- Sign Permits
- Short-Term Rentals
Committees & Commissions
The Department serves as staff to the City Council and a variety of committees and commissions, including:
- Planning Commission
- Planning & Community Development Sub-committee.
