Joe Palla

On June 9, 2021, Joe Palla was appointed to the City Council to fill a vacancy for a term expiring December 2022. Councilmember Palla previously served three terms in office with the City of Cloverdale. He served as Vice Mayor in 2008, 2012 and 2017.  He served as Mayor in 2009, 2013, and 2018. Before being elected to the City Council, Councilmember Palla served four years on the Santa Rosa Junior College Board of Trustees, two years during 1992-1994 and two years during 2004-2006. Councilmember Palla retired after a 30-year career in the law enforcement profession, serving 16-years as Chief of Police in three cities: Cloverdale, Healdsburg, and San Bruno. He also retired from the United States Coast Guard Reserve after serving 30-years, including 22 years as a Special Agent (Criminal Investigator). Mayor Palla currently serves on several committees and regional boards including: 

  • Joint City/School District Subcommittee, Chair
  • City Public Works and Facilities Subcommittee, Vice Chair
  • Homelessness Community Advisory Group
  • Zero Waste Sonoma County, Alternate
  • Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District
