City Council Subcommittees

Responsibilities

The City Council has established various subcommittees to help set management objectives for city government, adopt a city budget for fulfilling those management objectives, and ensure accountability to the citizens of Cloverdale. Each subcommittee consists of two City Council Members, one of whom is designated subcommittee chair, and the City Manager. City Council Members serve a one-year term on the subcommittee or until their successor is appointed. Subcommittee assignments and appointments are made by the majority of the City Council, which typically takes place during the first regularly scheduled City Council meeting in January of each year.

Finance, Administration, & Police

The Finance, Administration & Police Subcommittee is charged with guiding the city’s fiscal well-being by monitoring the city’s annual revenues and expenditures as well as the multi-year fund forecasts; and reviewing and recommending policies concerning areas such as revenues, debt, budget, reserves, and other issues of fiscal stewardship. It also addresses issues pertaining to the internal infrastructure of the city as an organization, processes intended to improve City Council effectiveness, as well as address Cloverdale law enforcement programs and initiatives.

Public Works & Facilities

The Public Works, Facilities (including Parks) Subcommittee was created to provide a forum for Staff, Councilmembers, and the public to identify, discuss, and provide input on active, ongoing, and future Public Works, Facilities, and Park related issues and concerns including day to day operations and emergency preparedness. The Subcommittee will provide input and make recommendations to City Council regarding the alignment of City resources with the need for improvements to the City's infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, wastewater system, water treatment, city facilities and parks and recreation programming. 

Joint City / Unified School District

The Joint Cloverdale City and Cloverdale Unified School District subcommittee is a multi agency committee comprised of two City Councilmembers, the City Manager, and Assistant City Manager, Chief of Police, Unified School District Superintendent... 

Homelessness Community Advisory Group

The City Council approved the formation of a Homlessness Community Advisory Group consisting of community members, business interests, not-for-profits, and faith-based organizations that can help address the challenge of homelessness. The goal of the City was to establish the Cloverdale Homelessness Task Force to hold a series of meetings wherein advisory group members share their ideas and views based on their experience working with and interacting with the homeless population and provide input to form the core content of the city’s Homeless Strategic Plan. The Framework is developed by the City of Cloverdale and its community partners to address the homelessness crisis. Guiding principles and seven primary Goals that the Plan intends to achieve. Each goal will be connected to a series of Supporting Actions, with detailed recommendations for successful implementation.
