Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE)
Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons taught from Kindergarten through high school. The D.A.R.E. program is more than just drug prevention education; it teaches students good decision making skills to help them avoid high-risk behavior to ensure they grow up healthy, safe, and secure. The new D.A.R.E. curriculum integrates the latest in research-based strategies into the world's largest, most effective educational delivery network.
Gang Resistance Education & Training (GREAT)
Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) is a school-based, police officer-led classroom curriculum. With prevention as its primary objective, the program is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership.
GREAT has developed partnerships with nationally recognized organizations, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the National Association of Police Athletic Leagues. These partnerships encourage positive relationships among the community, parents, schools, and law enforcement officers.
GREAT lessons focus on providing life skills to students to help them avoid using delinquent behavior and violence to solve problems. Our program offers a continuum of components for students and their families.
Safety Town
Safety Town is a realistic, child-sized town designed to provide complete hands-on safety education for children entering Kindergarten in the fall. - Where, when, and how to cross the street
- Bike safety
- Pedestrian safety
- School bus safety
- Fire safety
- Seat belt safety
- 911 emergency calls
- Stranger danger
- What to do if you find a gun
This program is also geared towards getting children to be comfortable around law enforcement and many other important agencies, including the many different uniforms and cars they might see.
