The Cloverdale Police Department is a multifunction agency charged with many duties, including:
- Prevention and detection of criminal activity
- Apprehension of offenders
- Protection of life and property
- Enforcement of laws and ordinances
- Dispatch and coordination of emergency services
- Non-law enforcement services:
- Animal control
- Fingerprinting
- Issuing permits
- Public information
- School crossing guards
